Obituary for Alma Fay Gwinn

Alma Fay (Muncy) Gwinn, 84, went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 11, 2016, peacefully, of natural causes at home surrounded by family. She was born on February 25, 1932 in Oklahoma to Lee and Ruby (Allen) Muncy. She was the 6th of 9 children.

Alma met and married Richard Alvin "Buddy" Herren, Jr. in 1948. They later moved to California, where they started their family. She was the proud mother of three beautiful daughters, Glenda Stroobant, Sandra Herren and Robbin Herren. Alma was also the Grandmother (never "Grandma") of 6 grandchildren, Stacey, Richard, Sandra, Sarrah, Crista and Michelle, as well as having many great grandchildren.

After the death of her first love, Buddy, she returned to school and became a nurse. She then met and married Terry Gwinn, Jr., a California Correctional Officer. They both retired and moved to Lake Havasu City in 1990, coming from Pismo Beach, CA.

Alma was the strong Matriarch of our family and was a loving Christian woman to all she met. After moving to Lake Havasu City, she attended and was very involved with her First Southern Baptist Church family. We were loved and blessed by her as were her many friends. Her surviving brother, Jack Muncy, remembers her as a woman who was loved and gave love.

She is loved and we will miss gathering at her home for wonderful Sunday and Holiday dinners. "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV.

Alma is survived by her brother, Jack Muncy; 2 daughters; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Hospice of Havasu and the wonderful CNA Nurses, Maria and Jamie, and her grandson, Richard, for their loving endearment as they attended to each of her daily needs.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the New Hope Calvary Church in Lake Havasu City (Desert Hills).
